As part of the 2014 Tinner Hill Blues Festival, the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation and Art and Frame of Falls Church will once again sponsor a juried all-media exhibition. The exhibition will open as part of FIRSTfriday of Falls Church on June 6 and will be on display, in the Art and Frame gallery, through the month of June. Theme: "Envisioning Blues" As part of the 2014 Tinner Hill Blues Festival, this exhibition focuses on the meaning of the “Blues" from an artistic or visual perspective. Artwork may explore the nature of blues music, poetry, literature, or history; interpret theemotions and events that inspire or evoke the blues; focus on blues performers; or ruminate on the emotional qualities of the color blue asexplored in the blue periods of such artists as Picasso, Degas, Tanner, Bearden, Lawrence, or O'Keefe. The show is being organized by artist and collector Irene Chambers and Tom Gittins of Art & Frame of Falls Church.
Key dates: May 20th: Deadline for entry fee, entry and liability release forms, and digital images of work.
May 27th: Artists notified whether their work has been juried into the show.
June 1st: Deadline to deliver juried pieces to Art and Frame of Falls Church.
June 6th: Gallery opening and “Meet the Artists” reception, 6:00-8:00 pm.
July 2nd: Deadline to retrieve unsold work from Art and Frame of Falls Church.Entry forms and details about the exhibition will be available on the Art and Frame and Tinner Hill websites by May 9 and art work submission will be due on Tuesday, May 27.
Cash prizes, totaling $500, will be awarded to the top three works selected by the juror.
